Dragon Item prices in runescape have felt the impact of the introduction of new 3rd age items that have recently been introduced by Jagex. Dragon chain prices have dropped as more people look to demand the new 3rd age items.

The 3rd age items are described as rare items, the stats associated with them merit a hefty price. Although the distinction between the traditional rare items (such as runescape party hats, santa hats, halloween masks) and these new 3rd age items is the former are better referred to as discontinued items rather than rare items.

Discontinued items are items that Jagex had previously dropped on holidays - however, instead of holiday drops there are normally holiday events where every player has an equal chance to get a reward provided they do the required event.

Rare items exist for many monsters in runescape - items that are rare may fetch better prices on the runescape market but may not be very useful or better than cheaper counterparts. People will often claim an item is rare while it could be extremely common. Never trust the word of strangers when they claim an item is rare - always check for a price guide before buying something that you are unsure of the market price for.
