Runescape Third Age Rare Items
I have been following some threads in different runescape forums about the rare item prices in the game. Specifically about third age items that are able to be found by members when doing level 3 treasure trail clues.
There have been many discussions relating to the pricing of these items and the fact that they are rare has impacted on the whole merchanting system. At this time, the third age items are still relatively rare and are the main reason why people are doing more treasure trails. However, the main difference with the third age items and traditional rare items like party hats and santa hats, is that they will increase in number as time goes on.
Now, merchanting such items is currently restricted due to the low numbers currently in the game - it is increasing demand for them and pushing prices on an upward spiral. At some point it will stop increasing and merchanting will be much more restricted as either new items will be introduced by Jagex or players will change their desire to own them.
Through checking price guides, the melee armour is by far the most desired and costly. Brieftly, the third age runescape item prices at this time are:
Mage Items:
- Third Age mage hat - 8,000,000gp - 8,100,000gp
- Third Age robe top - 20,000,000gp - 21,000,000gp
- Third Age robe - 12,000,000gp - 15,000,000gp
- Third Age amulet - 12,000,000gp - 15,000,000gp
Range Items:
- Third Age range coif - 8,000,000gp - 10,000,000gp
- Third Age range top - 29,000,000gp - 32,000,000gp
- Third Age range legs - 8,000,000gp - 10,500,000gp
- Third Age vambraces - 4,000,000gp - 5,000,000gp
Warrior Items:
- Third Age full helm - 20,000,000gp - 23,000,000gp
- Third Age platebody - 63,000,000gp - 65,000,000gp
- Third Age platelegs - 35,000,000gp - 40,000,000gp
- Third Age kiteshield - 115,000,000gp - 130,000,000gp
Obviously the price for a whole set is just based on the current price range that these runescape items are trading at. However, it is likely that the top range would be the least expected by anyone who currently has a full set if they wished to sell.
At this time, merchanting does seem to be extremely viable, although price instability in the whole runescape marketplace could quickly change that. It is definately a risk to merchant these items as attitudes to the prices can quickly change and merchants can be left holding white elephant goods.
Overall, my advice is only purchase the items if you are wanting to hold onto them for future use - or if you are expecting to sell them quickly as prices for rare items in runescape that can still enter into the game will inevitably lower over time.
